Revolutionary Dancers
Hi! My name is Priyanca Rao, and I am a New York portrait photographer and dance photographer.
Every year I work on a passion project that is close to my heart and tells a unique story about other artists.
“Revolutionary Dancers” is a collection of powerful portraits and inspiring stories of 40 dancers who have crafted a dynamic roadmap to inspire the others in performing arts and expressing their identity through dance.
“Revolutionary Dancers” aims to showcase the diverse and compelling journeys of dancers in different ages. Each story is a testament to the power of artistic expression. The project seeks to celebrate these dancers not only for their achievements but also for their role in paving the way for the dance industry.
The beautiful artistic photos from this series will either be exhibited as a gallery exhibit or be printed in a magazine form. More details to be released on this shortly.
“I want to capture some powerful portraits of DANCERS AND share their stories with the world”.

Revolutionary dancers
As both a high school student and dancer, finding balance between my studies and my dance classes was always a challenge.
Dance offered me the opportunity to express myself freely outside of school, and find passion once again in my artistic side of life
Emma Lim
I moved through a lot of different dances, ballet stuck with me because it is elegant and is a way I can express my emotions.
For example, if I am sad I fall on the floor, or if I am happy I can jump. Sometimes I mis it with other dances to create something floaty and like I am flying.

I am on a mission to help women feel confidant, sexy and captivating in their own skin.
Janelle Isis
I started ballet when I was one year old!
My favorite dance right now is breakdance. I like to make my own moves and be free. I am inspired by my aunty who is a choreographer. She is so cool! I want to be just like her.

Dancing is beautiful because it makes me feel completely free. The way that nothing else can be on my mind when I’m doing what I love.
Lyndsey Koch
I love dancing ballet because it makes me feel like I am flying.
Ballet makes me so happy because I can express myself with my movements, and it’s really fun to learn new dances. Dancing makes me free and special.
Alice C.
I love ballet because it has been a part of my life since I was five!
This beautiful art form has taught me discipline, grace and hard work. Through ballet I express emotions and tell stories without words. Which is both powerful and fulfilling. It connects me with a community of passionate individuals who inspire me daily. Ballet challenges me to continually improve, offering me a consistent personal growth. It offers me a sanctuary that allows me to escape into music and movement. For me, ballet is more than a dance; it is a lifelong passion and a profound sourse of joy and self expression.
