Trailblazer: Kimberly Wetty

Kimberly Wetty is a force of nature in the world of luxury travel and leadership. With over three decades of experience building an extraordinary global brand alongside her family, Kimberly has consistently led with curiosity, authenticity, and an open heart. Today, she is stepping into a new chapter—helping others transform through leadership development, self-discovery, and purpose-driven experiences. Her story is one of evolution, empowerment, and creating opportunities in ways only she could envision.

Growing Up Around Excellence and Legacy

Kimberly’s journey began in the unique environment of a family business. Her mother founded Valerie Wilson Travel in 1981, after struggling to find a travel advisor who could plan the high-end European trips her family desired. Witnessing her mother build something from nothing was formative.

“At 39, my mom started her own company because she couldn’t find what she needed—and that taught me that you create the solution when no one else does.”

Kimberly spent her youth immersed in the company, helping in small ways during summers, though she didn’t initially plan to join. After exploring two other careers, she realized that joining the family business was the path that aligned with her passion. She focused on luxury leisure and cruise travel, eventually moving into marketing and human resources, learning leadership and vision firsthand.

The Power of Family and Integrity

The company’s growth to a $350 million global brand was built on integrity, care, and collaboration. Kimberly credits her family dynamic for shaping her values.

“We became known for integrity. The way we treated clients and partners was rooted in respect and care.”

Challenges were inevitable, and Kimberly emphasizes the importance of seeking support. Family counseling and professional coaching were essential in navigating both personal and professional dynamics, lessons that now inform her current work helping others reach their full potential.

Travel as a Catalyst for Connection

For Kimberly, travel has always been more than destinations—it’s a philosophy. Her personal motto, to live with an open heart and an open mind, intertwines naturally with luxury travel. She believes in connecting deeply with cultures, people, and experiences.

“You may travel for the destination, but you return because of the people and the stories.”

Her work in the luxury travel market emphasized intentional, meaningful experiences. From multigenerational trips to curating journeys aligned with personal growth, Kimberly has always seen travel as a tool to expand empathy, curiosity, and understanding.

Leading with Curiosity and Authenticity

As the travel industry evolved, Kimberly’s leadership evolved with it. She navigated technology shifts, global crises, and changing traveler expectations with intentionality and grace. Her approach today blends curiosity with authenticity—pausing to ask deeper questions before seeking answers.

“Curiosity creates space for ideas, collaboration, and growth.”

Kimberly also champions authenticity, rejecting the notion that emotion is a weakness in business. She has learned that empathy and being true to oneself strengthen leadership and create more meaningful connections.

“The more you embrace who you truly are, the stronger your leadership becomes.”

The Curiosity Advantage

Kimberly has a superpower she didn’t fully name until recently: she reads between the lines. In a room full of people saying one thing, she hears what’s underneath it — the unasked question, the unspoken hesitation, the idea someone hasn’t found the words for yet. It’s the same instinct that shaped her decades in luxury hospitality, where anticipating what someone needs before they ask is the entire art form. And it turns out, it’s also the engine of great leadership.

That’s the case she makes to every client, every room, every organization she enters: curiosity isn’t a soft skill. It’s the fuel behind innovation, the foundation of a culture people actually want to be part of, and the thing that determines whether a leader builds a team,  or just occupies a seat at the head of the table. Because everyone has an assigned seat. The question is whether they are truly in it — bringing their full perspective, their questions, their voice — or just showing up.

When curiosity is present, people lean in. When it is missing, they check out. It is that simple, and that consequential.

Embracing Change and Owning Your Time

Kimberly’s current chapter is about doing what feels right on her own terms. She encourages women to embrace change, take risks, and allow themselves the grace to prioritize their own growth and well-being.

“This is the time to do the things I want to do, the way I want to do them. And I feel excited about that.”

Her focus on self-care, personal fulfillment, and creating opportunities for others exemplifies a life lived authentically, with intention and kindness.

That same spirit fuels everything Kimberly now builds through Keep Wondering Why (KWW Inc.) — her thought leadership consultancy founded on a simple, powerful belief: curiosity transforms leaders. Whether she’s working with a multigenerational family navigating a business transition, coaching a luxury brand on connecting with a new generation of clients, or leading a workshop that helps a leadership team see each other with fresh eyes, Kimberly brings thirty-plus years of lived experience into every room she enters. This is not a pivot. It’s an arrival.

If you are ready to lead more boldly, build something that lasts across generations, or bring your organization into alignment with the world as it actually is today — Kimberly is ready to work alongside you.

Kimberly Wetty: Curiosity, Courage, and the Power of Transformation

Kimberly’s focus now is on helping others harness curiosity, embrace authenticity, and lead with heart. Her journey from luxury travel to leadership and personal transformation serves as a blueprint for people seeking to create meaningful impact while staying true to themselves.

“Failure does not ruin your life. It teaches you what matters and what you want to do differently next time.”

Through her story, Kimberly shows that true authority comes not from status, but from courage, empathy, and the willingness to lead on your own terms. Her evolution invites every person to step into their own power, live intentionally, and leave a trail of inspiration.

Through decades of experience, she has watched how different generations approach the world in profoundly different ways. Generation X, her own generation, learned independence early and often had to figure things out alone. Millennials were raised with more encouragement and structure. Generation Z has grown up during a series of global disruptions that shaped how they see identity, community, and opportunity. Having experienced 9/11, the financial crisis, and the pandemic, this generation emerged both incredibly resilient and deeply aware of social issues and identity.

For Kimberly, understanding these generational differences is not optional, it is essential for modern leadership. Leaders who refuse to recognize change risk losing both talent and customers. Those who remain open and curious, however, can build organizations that people genuinely want to be part of.

“Leaders need to be curious enough to understand that the next generation is asking different questions about the world.”

Ash and the Power of Allyship

Kimberly’s expertise in generational change is not just professional — it is deeply personal.

Her youngest child, Ash, is transgender and non-binary. That journey challenged Kimberly to rethink long-held assumptions about identity and belonging, learning in real time what it means to support someone navigating a world that doesn’t always understand them. When she began building her company and speaking publicly about leadership, she asked Ash for permission before sharing any part of their story, making clear she had no intention of capitalizing on it.

Ash’s response became the foundation for one of Kimberly’s most important frameworks: generational readiness. It is not simply about understanding younger generations. It is about helping leaders recognize that people experience identity, community, and belonging in ways that may be very different from their own.

“If you can change someone’s belief and help educate them, you will make the world a better place.”

Trailblazer Photoshoot: A Transformative Experience

Recently, Kimberly experienced a conceptual photoshoot called Trailblazers, designed to capture personal stories and empowerment through photography. For her, it was more than just images—it was a mirror for self-discovery and growth.

“The experience made me reflect deeply on my journey. It’s transformative, helping people see themselves in new ways.”

The shoot allowed Kimberly to tell her story visually, blending personal narrative with artistic expression. She believes that this kind of creative exploration can be life-changing for women, helping them connect with their own power, resilience, and vision for the future.

Participating in the Trailblazers photoshoot became a surprisingly emotional experience for Kimberly — one that she didn’t fully process until she saw the images afterward.

The first photograph showed her curled in a corner, wearing a sequined dress and holding a stuffed animal. It looked lonely. Sad. And as Kimberly reflects, that was very real for parts of her childhood. But as the shoot progressed, something shifted. The final images told an entirely different story — a woman in a beautiful dress and scarf, radiating confidence and ease. The kind of image, she noted, that could belong on the cover of a magazine. She further shared that it evoked an emotional recognition between how you see yourself, how others see you, and how you show up in the world.

The transformation was more than visual. It represented a deeper shift in how Kimberly sees herself and the next chapter of her life. When she called Ash to describe the arc of photos, their response said everything: “Mom, why does that surprise you?” It was a reminder of how often the people closest to us see our truths before we do.

“I looked like I could be on the cover of a magazine. I was in this beautiful dress and scarf and I just looked… free.”

Stepping Into Kimberly 2.0

After more than thirty years in a structured corporate environment, Kimberly Wetty is stepping into a new phase — and she’s doing it on her own terms.

For decades, she operated within formal dress codes, traditional hierarchies, and carefully structured systems. That chapter built the foundation of her leadership expertise. But the woman stepping forward today is ready for something more expressive, more vibrant, and more fully herself. More color. More fun. More authenticity.

She calls it Kimberly 2.0. It is not a rejection of what came before, but an evolution of it. The thirty years of leadership experience remain central to her work — the difference is in how she now brings them to life.

“This next chapter feels like Kimberly 2.0.”

Work With Kimberly

Kimberly’s clients — family businesses navigating generational transition, luxury brands seeking deeper connection with a changing customer, and leadership teams ready to move into a deeper trust — come to her because they need more than a consultant. They need a thought partner who has lived the questions they are asking. Through Keep Wondering Why, she offers keynote speaking that brings generational intelligence and inclusive leadership to life on stage; family business consulting grounded in her proprietary Family Business Dynamics program; interactive workshops that help teams close generational divides and align around a shared vision; and one-on-one executive coaching for leaders ready for their own 2.0 moment. Every engagement is designed to be transformative — not transactional. And every new client partnership carries something more: through The Wonder Tree, KWW’s philanthropy initiative, a portion of every engagement is contributed to a cause chosen by the client. When curiosity leads, impact grows.
