Engagements & Couple portraits
Couple portraits are our thing! We have had the honor of documenting couples all of the world and at beautiful destinations.
Right from couple photos and engagement photos in New York City we have traveled across the world to Canada, Jordan, India, Bahamas and more. When we create portraits, our goal is to create photos that are one-of-a-kind to hang on your walls and enjoy as art! Whether you want New York City engagement photos or unique couple portraits in your favorite city, we got you!
Priyanca surprised even me with her dedication to capturing our lives together. She pulled us out of our comfort zone (being uncomfortable in front of the camera – haha) right away and spent the extra time getting things to be as they truly are – not just right for a photograph.Liz C, Brooklyn New York

Unique engagement photos for art lovers
Our portrait session are all about creating something unique that you will enjoy, and your friends will envy. They are meant to be hung as wall art on your walls in giant sizes and enjoyed everyday.
What to wear to your engagement shoot
We recommend wearing bright color outfits that contrast your location backdrops. For example if you are having engagement photos in Central Park wear something that contrasts the foliage. We send our an email with styling tips ahead of your shoot.
natural looking portraits
Along with creative portraits we also want to keep it real. We take a handful of photos that show your chemistry and connection.
Feel at ease
No matter how camera shy you are, we know how to loosen you up to get those laughs and very natural looking pictures.
We look for unusual angles, perspectives
and compositions that will make your images pop. We also pick a time when the lighting and sky compliments the photos.
Fine art portraiture for your home
How would you describe your photography style?
Our couple photos are creative and one-of-a-kind. We are early risers, hustling to get on location at sunrise or sunset to get that beautiful sky! When we photograph portraits at a new city or destination, we research the location looking for the best places to shoot at. Our most popular shoots are set in New York City either in Central Park or in New Jersey with the NYC skyline in the background. Photographing pre-wedding photos in Dumbo, Brooklyn are also very popular with our clients who like urbanscapes. Engagement sessions are a group effort, as your photographer we get direct you in a creative way, and you get to have so much fun!
What makes your photos unique?
Creativity comes naturally here at Priyanca Rao Photography. The use of color and strong compositions are one way to create unique photos. Directing couples to look good when it is their first time in front of a camera requires a lot of skill. We have a few tricks up our sleeve to make you feel more laid back and comfy in front of the camera. We also give directions that will show your chemistry and connection. We are good observers and listeners. We look for ways to incorporate your personality and best angles in your photos.
What are the best couple/ engagement shoot locations in New York City?
We believe that the best locations are the ones that tell your story in an authentic way. Like where you first met or went on your first date. For couples visiting NYC we recommend Central Park, our favorite NYC rooftop skyline shoot location, Brooklyn Bridge with the skyline and Exchange Place in Jersey City, NJ with the New York City skyline. Some of our more understated favorite locations are Prospect Park, Madison Square Park, Washington Square Park, Brooklyn Botanical Garden, SOHO, East Village, Fidi, Battery Park and Fort Tryon Park for New York City Engagement sessions and photoshoots. Rockefeller engagement session are popular with couples looking to do a photoshoot while visiting New York City. West Village cobble stone, Chelsea Marker, brownstone and the The High Line in the Meatpacking district is artsy and a great location for creative engagement photos. New York Public Library photoshoots are great for the book lovers and is located close to Bryant Park and Grand Central.
What happens after my couple/ engagement portrait photoshoot?
We go through all your images and prep an online gallery for you to review. You will then have to pick a digital or folio print collection for purchase. Once you decide the collection and number of photos you want, you can pick your favorites from a selection gallery. All the selected images will be sent to our retoucher for editing. Your photos will be delivered in digital or print as selected by you. We also design beautiful wall art pieces that our clients cant stop talking about! These are great to display at your reception before hanging on the walls at your home. We are all about maximizing the experience and your investment. Couple/ engagement albums are a great way to display your photos in sequence as a story. Albums can also be used as guest signing books at your wedding reception party!
Do you share all the raw files after an event?
